Dr. David A. Sobrepeña

Dr. David A. Sobrepeña is the founding president and Senior Pastor of Word of Hope Christian Church, one of the largest born-again, evangelical churches in the Philippines today with 43 satellite churches in Manila with over 7,000 Life Groups (cell groups) in their network. Through his leadership, he was able to establish many institutions, such as hospitals, academies, leadership institutes, and a multi-use venue for events such as weddings, retreats, and recreation. He also has HOPE Inc: an enterprise that helps empower the urban poor through job and livelihood opportunities.

Dr. Sobrepeña has many high-ranking positions within many Philippine Christian organizations. He is the National President and General Superintendent of the Philippines General Council of the Assemblies of God and has served as the Chairman of both the Board of Philippine Council of the Evangelical Churches (PCEC) and Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (APTS). He also has the position of a Board Member within the Philippine Bible Society. 

Dr. Sobrepeña has also worked as a member of the leadership team of the Billion Soul Network as a Co-Chairman for Church Planting. Due to this, he is not just restricted to the Philippines and has traveled throughout the globe to speak the Good News of Salvation. He has spoken at Christian Leadership Conferences, Missions Conventions, Camps and Evangelistic Crusades. His passion has led him to have a Gospel bus and Gospel boat to evangelize and he has assisted in church planting, medical missions, and relief operations under the name: Operation Hope.

He was worked in EQUIP, an organization that helps provide Christian leadership training worldwide, as the National Director for the Philippines and as a Head Coordinator for Asia-Pacific. In 2012, he was inducted to the EQUIP Leadership Hall of Fame — a Leadership Award of the highest honors given to selected Christian leaders worldwide. He and his team have trained over 400,000 Christian leaders in the Philippines and other Asian countries.

He and his wife, Lydia has three grown-up children — Dexter Mark, Janelle Pearl, and David Glen. They are enjoying life as grandparents to 5 beautiful and handsome children.
