DOES GOD HAVE YOUR ATTENTION?

DOES GOD HAVE YOUR ATTENTION? – Charisma Life Church

listen1Famous philosopher-theologian C.S. Lewis, said, “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but He shouts in our pains. It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”

How do people tune out God’s voice by their pleasures? Any personal experience?

Why are people more sensitive to God’s voice when they are in pain? Any personal insights or experiences?

Although pleasures or pains function as God’s megaphone, they can also desensitize even Christians from hearing God’s voice, instead of giving God their attention. Any personal experience or testimony?

Caution: A barrage of words and images through multimedia can deviate our attention away from God when they become excessive. Meditate on these Scriptures:

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10).

“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:30-31).

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of
the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust” (Psalm 91:1-2).

How attentive are you to God’s voice?
