Eden and Las Vegas Similarities and Symbolisms – Charisma Life Church

Eden (the name means “pleasure”) was the place God put Adam and Eve as their home. But their sin turned Eden from a place of pleasure into a place of death, making Eden the birthplace of humankind’s sin and death (Romans 5:12).

Las Vegas (the Entertainment Capital of the World) is nicknamed “Sin City” as a center of sinful pleasures. Las Vegas’ mesmerizing attractions cater to “the cravings of sinful man”
(1 John 2:15).

Eden got God’s particular attention following Adam and Eve’s sin; Las Vegas got the attention of the whole world from the recent massacre at the Mandalay Hotel.

Probing Questions to Ponder:

1.  Was the massacre at the Mandalay Hotel a signal to the evil influence of Sin City upon her patrons from all over the world?

2.  Could patronizing Sin City have an eroding bad influence on the spiritual life of family members and church members?

3.  Could the growing infatuation of professing Christians with the pleasurable environment of Sin City slowly condition them to be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God?

4.  Is a devout Christian a good steward of his/her God-given time, physical energy, and material assets when patronizing the pleasures marketed by Sin City?

God’s Prophetic Admonition: “There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves…lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power” (2 Timothy 3:1-2, 4-5). “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —His good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).
