A. Humility is Unconventional
1. Humility is unconventional in Greek culture (1Cor. 1:22-23)
2. Humility is unconventional in Jewish culture (7–10)
B. Humility is Attitudinal
1. Humility is a distinct DNA in God’s Kingdom (Lk. 17:20-21; Matt. 18: 1 – 4; 22: 24-27)
2. Humility does not happen in a vacuum. Dynamics of Humility:
Self – humility starts internally in the mind (Phil. 2:3)
Other – humility is manifested outwardly to others (Lk: 14:7; Phil. 2:3-8)
3. The Most Important Other (Lk. 14:7; Phil. 2: 3-8; Rom. 12:2; Lk. 14: 1-2,4)
C. Humility is a Paradox: The world’s culture and God’s kingdom are opposite.
1. They are opposite in standard (Lk. 14: 7 – 10, 12-14)
2. They are opposite in outcome (Lk. 14: 11; Phil. 2: 9)
3. They are opposite in reward (Lk.14: 14: Rev. 19: 7-9)
