Consider Abraham: “He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. (Galatians 3:6-7, 9)
Like father Abraham, what do we need to model to our children by our faith, our behavior, and our lifestyle to influence them for God?
1. Faith in God to become a child/children of God (Gal. 3:6-7, 29).
2. Faith in God to be blessed along with Abraham (Gal. 3:8-9).
3. Faith and obedience to God’s call upon our life (Gen. 12:1-4; Heb. 11:8).
4. Faith and perspective to live like a stranger in this world, looking forward to our heavenly home (Heb. 11:9-10).
5. Faith in God to fulfill His promises to us, even in seemingly impossible situations
(Heb. 11:11-12).
6. Faith in God to make an extreme sacrifice to pass the test of our faith
(Gen. 22:1-18; Heb. 11:17-19).
Practical Applications:
1. To save and protect our children from the ill effects of our secular and ungodly culture, nothing will work best like modeling before our children
a genuine faith in God that was modeled by father Abraham.
2. How we model our faith in God to our children by the use of our time, our money, our leisure, our influence, and whatever assets we have, is key
to influence them for God.
3. As fathers, it’s never too late to influence our children for God by our godly examples, if they see us turn our lives totally to God.
