Living Now in View of Eternity

Eternal Perspective Living Now in View of Eternity – Charisma Life Church

An excellent example of living now in view of eternity was Abraham.

Hebrews 11:8-10, 17-19

8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.  9 By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.  10  For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

17  By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, 18  even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” 19  Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death.

Insightful Application:

1.  Abraham had the eye of faith to move ahead where God wanted him to be, and he put feet to his faith by obeying God.  Do you see by faith where God wants you to be from where you are now in your spiritual journey with God?

2.  Abraham saw himself as a transient on earth, and he refused to be bogged down by the cares of this life.  Does the desire for material possessions, convenience, and pleasure hamper your progress in your journey with God?

3.  Abraham passed the greatest test of his faith in God when he raised his hand to slay his son Isaac as a worshipful sacrifice to God in worship.  What is your “Isaac” that is closest to your heart that God has asked you to offer to Him as a sacrifice?

4.  What is Abraham’s reasonable wisdom in verse 19 that could encourage you to offer your biggest sacrifice to God in worship?

Reflections:

1.  Let us not be short-sighted by our earthly view of life, failing to live now in view of eternity.

2.  Our view of eternity with God will guide how we live our life now.  May God keep our spiritual eyes open to see beyond the temporal into the eternal.
