For successful transactions, a lot of times who you know is more helpful than what you know.
God said about His ancient people Israel, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).
God’s ancient people, in prophet Hosea’s time, still knew much about God, but they no longer knew God personally because they have ignored His law—priests and people alike—which led them to idolatry and adultery (Hosea 4:7-19).
Today, more than two millennia later, God’s people—Jews and Christians alike—are also being destroyed from lack of experiential knowledge about the Holy Spirit, in spite of seminaries, seminars, sermons, and books that teach about the Triune God.
In today’s battle of ideas, the biggest idea wins. But there is no bigger idea than God Himself who is bigger than the universe He created! God’s genius is His ability to reside in us through the presence of His Holy Spirit. The ultimate winner resides in us to make us victorious.
The burden of today’s message is to increase both our head knowledge and our practical knowledge of the Holy Spirit, whose presence in us can save us from being destroyed by the assault of secular worldviews that are rampant today.
