Christmas joy is in the air, which is the joy of giving and receiving. Christ said, “It is more blessed or joyful to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). Christ is the perfect example of the joy of giving reflected in the Book of Hebrews.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
What this verse teaches us:
1. Christ is the focus, the author, and the finisher of our faith.
2. Christ’s exemplary giving was sacrificial, generous, and joyful.
3. Christ’s exemplary giving inspires and challenges us to experience the joy of giving as our way of life by giving our best to God–sacrificially, generously, and joyfully–to be a blessing to the world like Jesus.
